Earthjustice praises Sebelius over coal plant decisions
Tuesday, 1 July 2008
Earthjustice recently praised Gov. Kathleen Sebelius because of her opposition to two coal-burning plants in southwest Kansas.
Last week in Denver, Sebelius spoke to the non-profit public interest group. A video of her remarks and other comments from top environmentalists and Colorado state officials is available at MYSpace.com
Earthjustice, whose motto is “Because the earth needs a good lawyer” was formed in 1971 as the Sierra Club Legal Defense Fund, and changed its name in 1997.
The Statehouse Briefing appears semi-regularly during the week and includes items of interest relating to state politics and government. If you have a tip to pass along, please contact blog editor Scott Rothschild.

“We've got more excuses, we're going to blame it on speculators, blame it on oil companies, blame it on OPEC, when there's only one group in this chamber we ought to blame — and that is all the liberals in this House who have voted for no energy each and every time over the last 18 years that I've been here.”

Madmike, just another mouthpiece for…
well, Madmike.
I used to work with those “far-left eco nut jobs” in the Denver field office, and not a single person working there was even remotely extremist in their views towards environmental law. As a matter of fact, they were some of the best legal minds I've worked with since Harvard.
If you consider upholding the Endangered Species Act, Clean Water Act, or the the Clean Air Act to be environmental radicalism then I would suggest never leaving Kansas. The world is too big and scary out there for someone with such a small mind. Good luck though.

Preebo, a visit to your former colleagues' website belies your assertions, especially given the website's position on the myth of “global warming.” The fact that Governor Sebelius received this award confirms how pleased activist environmentalist groups are with her, which should engender even greater disgust with her on the part of rational Kansans for having first assured us that she favored these plants and then later betraying that trust when the national political scene beckoned.
