Susie and Galen started Blue Heron in 1982, making handmade futons, slip covers and pillows. They worked out of their home for four years before moving to a small retail store to compliment their futons with hardwood sofa frames and tables. eventually Blue Heron moved to larger retail spaces to accommodate more bedding, dining and living room pieces. In 1996 we moved to our present store, transferred our futon manufacturing to our friends at Humble Abode in Manhattan, KS and continue to focus on finding a blend of transitional and contemporary furnishings for the home.
