KU freshman wins national scholarship

A Kansas University freshman has been selected for a national leadership prize and scholarship.
Adam Hannaford, from Tulsa, Okla., was picked for the A. Patrick Charnon Memorial Scholarship from the Center for Education Solutions in San Francisco.
The $1,500 award goes annually to an undergraduate student who demonstrates values of "compassion, tolerance and respect for all people." There were 549 applicants from 347 colleges and universities.
Hannaford served as president of the Native American Council. He organized a seminar for American Indian families with students in the Cherokee Nation.
