Food, friends and fun -- and etiquette -- were on the minds of Kansas University students at Oliver Residence Hall the final week of classes for the spring semester. With nine floors and approximately 600 students at Oliver Hall, many students capitalized on opportunities to socialize.

Web site helps prevent ID theft
Saturday, August 14, 2004
Kansas University officials announced in April that a computer hacker might have gained access to personal information on thousands of KU students, faculty and staff members. Officials still don't know who did it. They're cautious of giving details of what they're doing to fix the problem. And there's little chance students will ever hear KU announce it's hacker-proof.

College is all about intellectual expedition
Saturday, August 14, 2004
As a senior at Kansas University, I have never changed my major. Instead, I've just kept adding. I came to KU as a decided chemistry major, but I eventually piled on a journalism major and a French minor.

Students should learn to expand their limits
Saturday, August 14, 2004
In 2005, I will be graduating as a 23-year-old fifth-year college architecture student. Wow. Just thinking about that makes me realize life goes even faster than the saying leads you to believe. It feels like such a cliché until you're at your last year in college.

Get involved, have fun
Saturday, August 14, 2004
I love to talk about Kansas University. I know about its history, alums, campus, people, classes and activities. I am proud to be a Jayhawk and show my school spirit daily, whether on the 27 KU T-shirts I have accumulated or in the fact I won't shut up about my classes.

Curtis Sample chuckles as he leans back on a comfortable couch and watches his roommates play Super Tecmo Bowl on their big-screen television. Saturday, August 14, 2004

Being active in community beneficial to all
Saturday, August 14, 2004
Welcome to Kansas University, and just as importantly, welcome to Lawrence, the city that will be your home the next four years. You may still feel attached to your hometown and perhaps just see Lawrence as the place where you go to school. With this mentality, you will appreciate only the bare minimum of Lawrence -- the restaurants, the grocery stores and the shopping areas.

Saturday, August 14, 2004
A group of late-night partygoers at a second-floor Lawrence apartment learned a safety lesson the hard way last fall, when an overloaded deck collapsed. Approximately 20 Kansas University students were packed on the deck at the apartment, 925 Ark. Two people were injured.

Saturday, August 14, 2004
Bicycles are popular on the Kansas University campus, but not just with their riders. Thieves like them too. Bike thefts more than doubled last year, causing KU to break a consecutive five-year decrease in overall campus crime.

How high do you predict gas prices will get this summer?
Steve Bradt "I’ll guess $3.40 around here. Things seem tenuous with the oil supply, so I can see it getting that high. I hope not, but I can see it happening."
