4-H Skill-a-thon set for Jan. 19

Caroline A. Williams graduated from the Air National Guard Academy of Military Science at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base, Knoxville, Tenn., and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air National Guard. The six-week course prepares officer candidates for initial assignment as commissioned officers and for careers in the Air Force reserve components.

The Wednesday Afternoon Duplicate Bridge Club’s game of Dec. 17 was directed by Chris Lane. The North-South winners were Klee Zaricky and Betty Collier, first in A and B; Virginia Johnston and Virginia Seaver, second in A; Jean Khatib and Ann Thompson, third in A and second in B; and Chuck Hedges and Clarice Broz, fourth in A and third in B.

Over the Rainbow Doll Club met Dec. 13 for a Christmas tea at Madame Hatter’s in Eudora. Afterward, the club went to the home of Jan Dyer, where members collected money for Warm Hearts and exchanged Christmas gifts. Two new members, Val Fittell and Roxanne Hall, joined the club. Next month’s meeting will be Jan. 8 at the home of Doris Ottinger, 1613 Powers, Lawrence.

University Bridge Club annual Christmas party was Dec. 10 at Alvamar Country Club, with 12 tables playing after a dinner meeting. Hosts were Richard Quinn, club president, and JoAnne Kready. Eudora Boy Scout Troop 64, chartered to Eudora Lions Club, participated in the Pelathe District’s 4th Annual Mountain Ball Lock-in and Varmit Cookoff on Dec. 5-6 at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Scouts attending were Connor Bradley, Nathan Bradley, Steven Wimmer, Nathan Gentleman, Matt Jones, Patrick Bradley, Trinton Wilkins, and Chance Hamm. Troop leaders attending were Jerry Criqui, Ann Wimmer, and Damon Bradley.
