New York Firefighters 9-11 Disaster Relief Fund

Lawrence firefighters and emergency medical personnel are seeking financial assistance for the families of their colleagues in New York and Washington, D.C., who have been killed or injured in the terrorist attacks or rescue efforts.

The International Association of Firefighters Local 1596 has set up an account at the Douglas County Bank. Donations can be dropped off at any of the Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical fire stations in town. Checks should be made payable to the firefighters union. They will be deposited in the bank account.

United Way:
The United Way
has created a fund to aid victims. Money will be distributed to emergency aid agencies like the Red Cross.
